do you take commissions?

I no longer take on Traditional Commissions, but I do offer something I call “commission requests” If you’re interested in having something made please see my contact page. How long have you been doing this?

I began making these pieces in the summer of 2017, my first piece was Yondu (A blue stag.)

Where do you get all your trash?

My first pieces were made of things i personally no longer used or had already thrown away. as i continued working however, friends and family began saving me their recyclables and anything else they deemed especially “interesting” for making. now I primarily source “junk” from my community via social media.
 

Do you decide the subject first, or plan it around the material?

I’ve worked from both directions. As an example, Lucy (a pink elephant I made my first year building) was born around the hose i used for her trunk. the majority of what I make though is determined upfront and the building materials are selected along the way.
 

how did you get into this?

I was very unhappy in my work, and abruptly left my long-time job to try and make my living as a FREELANCE artist. previously i was involved in everything from sign making to mural painting. Without a steady income however, i was having a hard time affording supplies.

the solution:

Make art from waste. Trash is in surplus and it's free.
 

WHich is your favorite piece?

As of now, Either Lucian (one of the many ravens I’ve made) or freya, a green unicorn.
